  • Alcatel Enterprise Switches with Rollback feature
  •

Alcatel has given network administrator an image rollback feature that is much like an "undo" command and allows fast recovery from software failures and configuration errors, minimizing downtime and optimizing network availability.
For example, let's say that a system crashes due to a new image or minor configuration change to the switch. Someone must reboot the switch and troubleshoot the problem. With the rollback feature, you can get the switch to reload from a certified directory which is the repository for the most reliable software and configuration.  In addition, the switch can automatically reboot itself in the event a misconfiguration causes loss of access to the switch.

  • WI-FI Alliance Certifies 802.11g Standard
  •    The Wi-Fi Alliance, following successful interoperability testing, has put its stamp of approval on the first batch of products based on the new 802.11g wireless Internet standard.
The new 802.11g standard lays out the ground rules for wireless LAN gear that is capable of at least 24Mbit/sec. and up to 54Mbit/sec., while remaining backward compatible with existing 802.11b gear that runs at a maximum 11Mbit/sec. Both use radio spectrum in the 2.4-GHz radio band. Another standard, 802.11a, defines 54Mbit/sec. gear in the 5-GHz band.
For users, the certification means products that have passed interoperability tests are compatible with one another.
